Most global technology companies have a presence in Pune, as do numerous Indian MNCs, SMES along with an ever-growing startup sector. Lately the IT sector ecosystem has grown to the extent that Pune is now amongst the top three software exporters of India. However, when it comes to INNOVATION, Pune has been carrying the EMERGING tag for quite some time.
Building Innovation Capability is a journey, one that cannot be achieved be in a short time. There are multiple elements that need to be put be in place.
In reality, innovations efforts, more often than not, are fragmented and do not yield exciting results which further reduces the motivation to innovate. At the same time there is a need to build new skills and management competencies needed for innovation.
A survey on Innovation Readiness of Pune IT sector was conducted for SEAP and published in June 2017 by our knowledge partners NewBox Conulting and Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts. The aim was to capture facts and opinions, evaluate the same and present insights. The intended outcome was to establish what has been achieved so far, as well as to recommend the way forward for companies as well as individuals.
SEAP was formed as an association of Software Exporters of Pune in 1998. The initial focus was to interact with various government agencies and provide member software companies the needed support for establishing efficient operations.
